Sister Corinne Avila, PBVM, a religious sister for 72 years, died at the Presentation Motherhouse in San Francisco on April 19. She was 93.

A native of Hanford, California, Sister Avila joined the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1944. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of San Francisco, she served as an elementary Catholic school teacher in San Francisco and New Mexico. She also taught for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at Our Lady of Lourdes from 1970 to 1979.

The funeral Mass took place on May 3 at the Presentation Motherhouse in San Francisco, followed by the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. She is survived by her brothers Paul and James Avila and her sisters Lena Verdegaal and Josephine Sweet.
