Pro-Life Mission International is planning two events in the archdiocese this weekend focusing on developing a strategic plan to end abortion. On  June 7, 7-8:30 p.m., the first free event, entitled “Fighting to Win — An End to Abortion” will be convened at Immaculate Conception Church, 1433 James M. Wood Blvd., Los Angeles. Among the featured speakers are Father Francisco Garcia, pastor; and Pro-Life Mission: International staff: Dr. Michael Ross, executive director; and Jason Murray, director of the Los Angeles chapter.Dr. Ross will talk on the parallels between the Cristero movement in Mexico and the Pro-Life Movement in America and around the world. A panel discussion will follow between attendees and pro-life leaders from L.A., including Astrid Bennett-Gutierrez of Los Angeles Pregnancy Services, Randall Avila of Pro-Life Mission: International and Kristina Garza of the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. The second strategic planning meeting fellowship luncheon event will take place on June 8, beginning at 11:30 a.m., at the home of Mrs. Maria Gray, 139 McKinley Place, Monrovia. Participants are asked to RSVP with Maria at [email protected] or call (626) 358-3554.Fertility awareness class for moms and daughters set June 8Teen girls and their moms are invited to spend a Saturday morning “discovering the beauty and mystery of their God-given fertility” in a June 8 class at American Martyrs Church, Manhattan Beach. Using the scientifically proven Billings Ovulation Method, moms and daughters will learn to read the natural bodily signs that signal their fertile and infertile days every month. Topics will include the onset of ovulation and subsequent menstrual periods; the functions of the female reproductive system; the charting process; the sacredness of human life; the virtue of chastity, and a reverence for sexuality. Former students are welcome (free) for a refresher course or for chart reviews.The class will take place 8-11 a.m. at American Martyrs’ St. Kateri Room, 624 15th St., Manhattan Beach.
