Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 9 at the Carondelet Center in Los Angeles for St. Joseph of Carondelet Sister Angela Pacheco, who died Sept. 6 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles; she was 77. The graveside service was held the following day at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

Sister Pacheco was born on May 21, 1938 in Los Angeles. She served as a teacher at the Carondelet Center for several years. She also taught primary grades in elementary schools for 15 years and served in parish ministry, especially in religious education and Latino programs, for 23 years.

In addition, Sister Pacheco assisted Spanish-speaking patients at USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she ministered as a hospital chaplain for 12 years, and later continued to serve as a hospital volunteer

Sister Pacheco is survived by her sisters Mercy Pacheco, Ruth Carbajal, Margaret Torres, Theresa Edinger and Jennie “Juanita” Escobedo. She is also survived by her brothers, Tony Pacheco and Ralph Pacheco.
