Students of Paraclete High School in Lancaster gave an enthusiastic welcome to Todd Davis this month as the school’s alumnus and Super Bowl champion returned to participate in a ceremony in his honor.

The 2010 graduate was honored with a celebration held in the school’s gymnasium. School faculty and city officials also took part in the event with Davis, who gave high-fives and took pictures with students, the Antelope Valley Press reported.

“The Antelope Valley has done so much for me,” Davis told the Valley Press. “It’s home to me. To be able to bring a Super Bowl championship back here and have the support that I’ve had has been amazing.”

Davis signed as a football linebacker with the Denver Broncos in 2014, and helped the team win Super Bowl 50 two years later, when they defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10.

School faculty members described the football champion as both a strong student and an involved athlete during his time at Paraclete. Davis was the two-time Antelope Valley Press defensive player of the year and mayor’s athlete of the month in 2010. He also made the principal’s and dean’s lists as a member of the National Honor Society.
