Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove will host an evening of Italian cuisine, local wines and music in order to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Amatrice, Italy — a town that suffered nearly 300 fatalities, thousands of injuries and structural damage following the recent natural disaster.

The event will take place on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. CNN Hero Chef Sir Bruno Serato, owner of the Anaheim Whitehouse restaurant, will serve pasta with amatriciana sauce, a dish that originated in the small village of Amatrice.

Bishop Kevin Vann of Orange County agreed to the fundraiser at the suggestion of John L. Allen Jr., editor of Crux Now and contributing writer for Angelus.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is a co-sponsor for the event. All proceeds will go to Caritas Italia, a humanitarian relief group that focuses on long-term rebuilding.
