As part of the experience at Old Mission Santa Barbara, handful of tours are offered for the faithful to take in the beauty and grandeur of what is known as the Queen of the Missions.

The Santa Barbara Mission was the 10th of the California Missions to be founded by the Spanish Franciscans. It was established on the Feast of St. Barbara, Dec. 4, 1786.

Blessed Junipero Serra, who founded the first nine Missions, had died two years earlier. It was Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen, his successor, who raised the cross and made the first converts.

The tours cover church and historic cemetery, gardens and the museum. More information is available through the mission website: www.santabarbaramission.org.
