A lovely and dramatic image that depicts the connection between the San Gabriel Valley and Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, was recently unveiled at the chapel at San Gabriel Mission High School in San Gabriel.

Created by brother artists Robert Rivera Novoa and Ernesto Rivera Novoa, the mural was donated through a sponsorship by the Benjamin Franklin Center Language Center in Celaya. The gift is part of the Murals of Brotherhood cultural and educational exchange program that aims to strengthen sister city relationships by highlighting the role and effectiveness visual arts play in affecting social change.

Roberto Novoa is currently an English as Second Language (ESL) professor at a polytechnic college in Celaya. A teacher for more than 20 years, Novoa’s murals are on display in many cities including Laredo and San Antonio, Texas, as well as Fullerton Community College.
